Frequently Asked Questions
Here we answer the most common questions about our products and services.
🧊 How should I store anchovies and white anchovies?
Both anchovies and white anchovies are semi-preserved products, which means they need proper refrigeration. Always keep them in the fridge, between 4°C and 8°C. The perfect spot? Somewhere easy to reach—you’ll thank us later…
📅 How long do anchovies and white anchovies last once opened?
If kept refrigerated and fully covered in oil, they can stay in perfect condition for several weeks—almost until the expiration date on the label. Though honestly… we know they won’t last that long.
Avoid leaving the product exposed to air. Use the original container tightly closed, or a sealed one, and make sure the fillets are always submerged in oil.

🧊🐟 How long does the bonito last once opened?
Once opened, straight into the fridge 🧊. Best kept in a closed container and covered with its own oil so it doesn’t lose any of its flavour or charm. Ideally, consume it within 3 to 5 days, though if stored well it can last up to a week. Just be warned: if you open it in front of someone, be ready to share 😋
🧂 What’s the difference between a preserve and a semi-preserve?
Preserve: Sterilised at high temperature (like our bonito in oil), it can be stored outside the fridge until opened.
Semi-preserve: Not heat-treated. That’s why it needs refrigeration at all times—even before opening (like Anchovies and White Anchovies).

🐟 Do our anchovies have bones?
Nope. All fillets are cleaned manually with great care. It’s an artisanal process that ensures a fine texture and the cleanest anchovies possible—so the only thing you have to worry about is enjoying them.
🌱 Do they contain additives or preservatives?
No. Our products contain only:
Cantabrian fish
Sea salt, vinegar or olive oil
If something is truly good, it doesn’t need makeup.

🌊 Where does the fish come from?
All our fish comes from the Cantabrian Sea, caught in season and hand-processed at our factory in Santoña (Cantabria).
Plus, our anchovies carry the MSC label, certifying sustainable and responsible fishing. In other words: good for you and good for the sea 💙

⭐ What is the “Selección Extra” range?
It’s our most exclusive line. We hand-pick the biggest, cleanest, most perfect fillets, presented with an impeccable finish. Perfect for surprising someone... or treating yourself to something special 🥂
🐟 Does bonito need to be refrigerated?
As long as the can is sealed, it doesn’t need refrigeration. It’s ready to chill in your pantry like a champ. Once opened though: straight to the fridge, and better if you keep it covered with its oil so it doesn’t lose an ounce of flavor. And hey, if you eat it all in one go—no worries 🤭
📦❄️ Do you offer chilled shipping?
Absolutely! Especially for delicate products or when the heat kicks in. We use refrigerated shipping to keep everything fresh and tasty all the way to your door.
🗓️ Do your products have an expiration date or a best-before date?
Our products come with a best-before date, ensuring top quality up to that point. While they may still be safe afterward, we recommend enjoying them before the date to savor all their flavor and texture.
🧂 For reference:
Anchovies and White Anchovies last up to 6 months if kept chilled.
Bonito, on the other hand, has a much longer shelf life: up to 5 years if unopened and stored properly.
