40 years of tradition: The anchovy recipe that appeared in a dream

Today is March 15, World Sleep Day , and we are taking advantage of it, apart from reminding you of the importance of sleeping well, to tell you an anecdote related to it and our anchovies in vinegar.

As you may know, this year at Pujadó Solano we are celebrating our 40th anniversary. It has been a long journey full of changes. We started in 1984 only making and selling anchovies from the Cantabrian Sea , and gradually we introduced other products from the Cantabrian Sea.

It was Milagros Solano , our founder, who always had the initiative to grow and produce more products. An example of this is our famous anchovies in vinegar. When we decided to go for it, we spent months trying to find a recipe that we liked, but we tried in vain. Until one night Milagros went to sleep and the next morning when she woke up she said: “ Now I know how we have to do it so that it turns out well .”

Milagros came up with the formula that we still use today to make our anchovies in vinegar. The success of its characteristic flavour is thanks to her. It is curious, but this is often how we came up with new ideas or solutions to our problems. Milagros always “ dreamed ” it, and when she woke up she already knew what we had to do.

So, perhaps as a reflection, we could say that sleep is essential for health, but also for coming up with brilliant ideas. You have to rest well in order to shine well.
